ETA to add "AND RECRUITS blogs like ROYGBIV (because I am a very bad gay for not thinking of that!), Kitchenette (Foodscience counts), etc.

So, I've been thinking for a while now that there might be some interest and benefit to doing some sort of on-going series (via a shared hash tag) or sub-blog on breaking down scientific processes, the science behind certain things, or deciphering scientific journal articles.

I'm thinking this would have a more narrow, less general focus then what might be posted to O-Deck. With a focus on becoming a community of learning among the various community blogs here in the Gawkerverse.

I also view it as a potential to leverage the various expertise that already exist in our communities across natural, biological, and social sciences.

From my perspective, io9 does a pretty good job already in deciphering recent study results, but maybe we take on exploring further studies covered by some of the other MP sites?

The hash tag thing might not work out best because folks (raising my own hand) might forget to tag the article. On the flip-side, what does the proliferation of sub-blogs mean for the primary 'back porches' (off the top of my head, GroupThink, CrossTalk, Observation Deck, ClashTalk, etc) of the MPs in community building efforts?

So, is there interest in a shared community effort to build something (happy to create the sub-blog, if there is a concensus) that creates a learning community around science? How do you think that should look? What parameters do you think should it include? Do you feel like it already exists and as is it is perfectly fine?

To be clear, if folks want a hash tag or a sub blog then it is something I would hope can be posted across the 'general' and 'back porch' MP (giving Magister credit for this term) blogs. Not things like MovieClub or CraftClub.

Thoughts? Ideas?
