A deputy in Rains County, TX has been fired following an incident where he shot a victim's dog while responding to a break-in. He claims the 2 year old Blue-Heeler charged him and he was in danger, but an autopsy performed on the dog showed the gun entry wound on the back of his head, signifying he was retreating. The deputy sustained no injuries from the dog and it is believed contact was never made.

The best part of the news is that the deputy was fired. He is not on suspension or leave. He was fired and according to the sheriff may now be facing criminal charges.
