I'm sure I'm being unfair, but it is not really a ringing endorsement of the man's life or their collective accomplishments. I suspect this is what happens at a moment like this when you don't have a press agent to write these things for you, especially if the news comes as a surprise. Bill Murray, who worked with Harold Ramis on a half-dozen projects in the 1980s and 1990s, issued this statement to TIME through his lawyer in the wake of Ramis’ death on Monday morning: “Harold Ramis and I together did the National Lampoon Show off Broadway, Meatballs, Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day. He earned his keep on this planet. God bless him.”
