Following is the full text of the Second Amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

We hear a lot of parsing about "well regulated militia", but no one ever seems to discuss "the security of a free state."

Note that the concern is for the security of the State, not of the citizenry.

I'm completely baffled how anyone could read this in good faith and think that this refers to personal arsenals or even personal protection. That said, "shall not be infringed" is pretty unarguable.
