Perennially troubled Hempstead public schools on Long Island made more than 30 errors in the summer reading list sent out for students in Pre-K through "twelve grade." Any mistakes would be bad enough, but some of these are doozies, including:

It's McCullough, Douglass and, of course, Gatsby, old sport. Elsewhere on the list, according to Newsday, which includes a pdf of the entire sorry document, is "Animal Farm" by George Ornell and "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bonte. No comment from the school district, yet.
