New York's annual Sidewalk Santa Parade, a river of red velvet to freak out many a hungover Thanksgiving survivor, has been cancelled. The Kris Kringle corps marched along 5th Avenue the Friday after Thanksgiving since 1902 to kick off the Volunteers of America Sidewalk Santa fundraising campaign, also cancelled. The charity is concentrating on more cost-effective ways to support its food voucher program, such as online fundraising and private donors, instead of its army of curbside Clauses freezing their jingle bells.
