I'm streaming a little radio as I work. As part of a jazzy Sunday evening set, the college station DJ just played an old tune from Jackie Gleason and when it came time to ID it, the announcer with a slight, but noticeable accent said that Gleason was perhaps better known as actor. He said that he's probably best recognized for his film with Paul Newman and for playing Ralph Kramden on The Honeymooners.

Now, I realize that I'm among the few who have watched Gleason's Dumont Network variety show (via middle of the night reruns), but if I were a betting man, I'd put money on the idea that most native-born Americans would think of the Burt Reynolds films first, then either The Hustler or The Honeymooners, but I guess Smokey and the Bandit may not translate well.
