TCM is showing one of my favorite movie "classics": The Conversation, Francis Ford Coppola's 1974 drama starring Gene Hackman as eavesdropping expert Harry Caul. Written in the 1960s, released during Watergate, Coppola's examination of the state of surveillance and the surveillance state wouldn't have any resonance nearly 40 years later, would it?
Everyone is at the top of their game in this award-winner.
Career bonus: A young Harrison Ford.
Watch it, or better yet, record it, tonight at 1:15 a.m. overnight (Eastern time).
