Meet Sheka and Teka, two male puppets and stars of a long-running series of commercials for Israel's state-owned electric company. The latest, in which this ultimate power couple welcomes a newborn baby into their lives, is sparking fresh debate about their sexual orientation and gay pride, the AP reports.

The utility plays coy (sound familiar, Bert and Ernie fans?), which some gay activists charge perpetuates discrimination . Others mock the controversy, saying the couple's orientation has long been obvious. And with names like Sheka and Teka, they may have a point. Translation? Plug and Socket.
