The couple of mentions from Nick saying that Gawker should not plumb the depths like Ratter (or something to that effect), I decided to check on the site. Today, apparently, they launched on a non-Kinja platform. Two employees are listed. With success, they’d like to hire more.
As I suggested in the comments to my earlier post about Ratter (embedded), the temptation to use shared posts to promote their Kinja network will definitely be there. I imagine today's will just be the first of many shares. It also marks the first Kinja without Kinja in the URL.
I don't know how I missed it, but CapitalNewYork reported a few weeks ago that A.J. Daulerio will be launching a network of localized sites on the Kinja platform. Thus far, angel funding has come from Mark Cuban and Nick Denton, who has reportedly been helping with the development of the project.
