Tech question.

I'm a regular Gawker reader, an commenter. And for the most part, I know how things work, or at least I used to.

I'm a bit confused as to what this means: "13 discussions displayed because an author is participating or following a participant. 1 additional replies submitted and awaiting review." It appears in the area right above the beginning of the comment section.

Do comments have to wait for approval, or can they be viewed immediately like on the old system? If approval is required, who is allowed to to grant approval?

I keep seeing the word "Following". Exactly what privileges comes along with "following" someone, or them following you?

I can't help but to think many, if not all of my questions are stupid/simple, but I'm going to go out on a limb, and assume other folks are having the same questions.

Excuse any typos. I checked, and rechecked, but the system is still buggy. I'm already aware that they are working in it.
