Surströmming is a foul smelling fermented herring delicacy often eaten outside. The fish are placed into barrels to ferment for two months months and then packed into cans where the herring then continues to ferment for a year.
A warehouse located on the east coast of Sweden which contained one thousand tins of surströmming burned to to the ground, the four people that were inside escaped without harm.
Firefighters worked to quell the fire, for six hours the pressurized cans exploded releasing their gas and some of them went flying over people's property. The cause of the fire is unknown.
