Why Blogs and Comments Must be Taken with a Grain of Salt

Yesterday Gawker and today Jezebel, both published posts based on the Smoking Gun report about the couple caught having sex in a shed at Home Depot. Of course there are lots of obvious puns, but between the posts and the comments, it is also plain to see that not everyone has been to Home Depot.

Maybe in some supercenter somewhere, there's a Home Depot between a PetCo and a Michael's, but the overwhelming majority of Home Depots are freestanding buildings on acres of land and if there are other stores, they're way over there.

Also, I don't know that I've ever seen a storage shed inside a Home Depot or a Lowes. The display models are usually out along one edge of the parking lot, which is where they are at the Home Depot from this story and even if one wasn't familiar with Home Depots, it probably could be surmised from the Smoking Gun report.

Officers were dispatched to the business “in reference to an male and female entering a display shed on the property, closing the door behind themselves and remaining inside”

I know this isn't the biggest story in the world and was posted as clickbait fun, but if the posts and comments are so far off on this, it shows you have to take everything with a grain of salt.
